ROTR 1.8 is a major update that adds a lot of new content and features to the mod. Here are some of the highlights:
The ECA faction is now fully playable, with a unique arsenal of units, buildings and abilities that focus on defence, mobility and versatility. The ECA can deploy fortifications, mines and turrets to hold their ground, use advanced vehicles and aircraft to strike from unexpected angles, and employ various support powers to aid their allies and hinder their enemies.
The Russian and GLA factions have been completely overhauled, with new models, textures, sounds and gameplay changes. The Russians now have access to more powerful tanks, artillery and air units, as well as new support powers that reflect their aggressive and resilient nature. The GLA have been split into two sub-factions: the Militia and the Terror Cell. The Militia rely on stealth, ambushes and guerrilla tactics, while the Terror Cell use suicide bombers, chemical weapons and fanatical zeal to spread fear and chaos.
The Chinese, USA and vanilla GLA factions have also received many new units, buildings and abilities, as well as balance tweaks and bug fixes. Some of the notable additions include the Chinese Helix Transport Helicopter, the USA Microwave Tank, the GLA Toxin Tractor and the GLA Combat Cycle.
The mod also features a new integrated multiplayer service called SWR.net, which allows you to play online with other players without the need for third-party programs or VPNs. You can create or join games, chat with other players, check your stats and achievements, and more. SWR.net is compatible with both the retail and the Ultimate Collection versions of C&C Generals Zero Hour.
Another new feature is the map pack that comes with the mod installation. It contains over 50 new maps for skirmish and multiplayer modes, ranging from small 1v1 duels to large 4v4 battles. The maps are designed to offer a variety of terrains, climates and scenarios for you to enjoy.
These are just some of the key features of ROTR 1.8. There are many more improvements and additions that you can discover by playing the mod yourself. If you want to know more about the changes in detail, you can read the full changelog here. 061ffe29dd
